Didage Gives Back

My heart has been inspired for some time to write a newsletter geared towards those doing missions and non-profit work.  I want to explain what we do, and how we can work together.

At Didage Sales, we have been truly blessed.

We purchase surplus capital equipment, in order to be able to provide equipment to others.  Often, a facility will change brand preferences, and need to sell or trade-in the extra equipment.  Here is how our ‘philanthropy’ idea came about.  We were purchasing surplus capital equipment from a facility in Indiana, when the question was posed “What will you do with all of the left over stuff?”  Since we (Didage) doesn’t sell disposables, we would have left the non-capital equipment to be discarded.  Most facilities do not have an outlet to donate equipment, and therefore it is thrown away.  It is hard to imagine perfectly good, usable medical products going into the trash.

The idea was born at that moment.  After a brief discussion with Chris Rankin, our founder and President, he allowed for the items to be collected and kept in a corner of the warehouse, to be given away.  We agreed that it could go to any non-profit type of organization.  It would free to any person or organization who is working towards the betterment of others.

The best part of having our little, tiny donation rack, is the truly awesome people that I have met.  I get to hear the heartbreaking and inspiring stories.

There are so many, doing so much, with so little.  It is amazing.

I have been pondering over how to orchestrate, or facilitate getting the medical equipment that we have, into the hands of those who can use it.  With the donated items, it is simple; it was a gift, therefore we give it away.  As for the other items, in which we have purchased, it can get a little tricky.  Although the easy answer is to ‘give it all away’, he who pays the bills here might not agree with that approach (and rightfully so).

So, here is what we have collectively come up with, to satisfy the needs of all involved.  First, we will be identifying the items in our inventory that are what we consider to be older-generation equipment.  This equipment is still functional, but not considered to be the latest and greatest technology for our domestic market.  In many countries, basic functionality is of far greater value than all of the fancy bells and whistles of the brand new items.  This works well for everyone involved.

How everyone benefits…

Missions and Non-Profit Groups:  You are able to provide necessary medical equipment to those in need.  In many cases, you can improve the quality of life, and even save lives, while carefully utilizing the available resources.

Didage will save you money.  Often, we can purchase older generation equipment at a very reasonable price.  We can pass this incredible pricing on to you.  We just need to re-coup our cost.  Please keep in mind that in order to make this program work, I have to cover our costs.  We must cover our cost in order to stay in business.

Hospitals and Surgery Centers can sell your surplus equipment or trade-in older generation equipment toward the purchase of newer equipment.  With this program, we can continue to accept trade-in equipment, knowing that we can re-coup our costs, and more importantly, get it into the hands of those who can help improve the quality of life for others.

Didage has newer generation and new equipment too.  If you are in need of any of these things, please let me know.  I will give you the best pricing that I can.

So, without further a do, I am working to identify all of the items in our inventory, to which I can apply the missions-discount.  These items will be priced very low for the non-profit groups.  I will be sending a list of items (possibly periodically) that qualify for this discounted pricing.  If there are any items that might be useful to you, please let me know.  I will evaluate the equipment, and ask my biomed to do the same.  We will identify if the item is ready to ship or what additional work will need to be done to make it patient ready.  With this information, I can determine our cost, and therefore your cost.

We appreciate what you do, and would rather you have the equipment then to keep it on the shelf.  I will give you the best pricing that I ethically can, while still being loyal to Didage Sales and Surgical PoWer.

I am very excited to be pursuing this opportunity.  I welcome your feedback and suggestions.  Please let me know what will be most helpful for you.  You can reach me at angie@didage.com or 574-268-9098.

I look forward to working with you.

In closing, “Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world.  Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”  ~Margaret Mead
